Beijing Women’s Network Officially Established to Empower Women Through Professional Networks and Trainings
The Network brings to life an ecosystem of organizations and leaders with a stake in empowering women in Beijing, giving them access to resources and skills.
Beijing, China, 14 October 2016 – The Beijing Women’s Network, Beijing’s leading platform dedicated to women driven by career aspirations and personal development, is proud to announce it has received the official seal of approval to operate in China. The Network also announces a strong partnership with United Foundation for China’s Health , under which the healthcare group will provide free health screenings to organizations working with women that were vetted by the Beijing Women’s Network.
Both announcements will be celebrated during the Women in Leadership Gala at the new Intercontinental Hotel in Sanlitun, taking place on November 11. Individual tickets and sponsorships are already available on request.
The Gala will mark the official launch of a collective community of all organizations that work around women’s issues so together they can become a collective voice and a launch point to help individuals identify the right resources, ultimately influencing policy in China to better protect and support women.
To showcase the personal and professional development goal of the Beijing Women’s Network, each table at the Gala will be hosted by a table mentor, so that 17 mentoring sessions will happen at the same time during the length of the dinner.
Originally started in March 2015 with a group of women brought together by a mutual interest in discussing women’s issues, the Beijing Women’s Network now connects over 1,200 women on its platform, hosting events and workshops providing women from all socio-economic backgrounds with the skills and resources to achieve higher professional development goals.
To raise awareness around women issues and support organization, the Beijing Women Network runs together several programs open to the community:
- Monthly Spotlight Dinners bring the community together to discuss current issues relevant to women in the workplace and society at-large.
- The Professional Development Series is an ongoing series of workshops aimed at introducing new workplace skills to young professionals so they can take the necessary risk to achieve more, at a minimal cost.
- The Healthy Living Series is a series of monthly events designed to bring a mixture of formal panel discussions, fitness events, and health education seminars.
- Pregnant, Married, Mothers Series serves women specifically focusing on issues relating to pregnancy, marriage and motherhood. The group hosts monthly dinners to connect our community, discuss relevant issues, and provide speakers to focus on the identified personal and professional needs.
Thanks to a partnership with, and continued support from the United Family Health group, all proceeds from these events support the United Foundation for China’s Health, giving access to free health screenings for thousands of women supported by organizations vetted by the Beijing Women’s Network. The Network developed a unique approach to vet existing organizations focusing on women demographics such as migrant workers and rural women, helping to build trust for the benefit of the people they support, and organizations that want to support them.
Come celebrate with us at the Women in Leadership Gala on November 11 this important step in our long journey to provide the skills and mentoring to women that will help them become leaders, providing equal opportunity to all.
